Always be brave

I am not really a big fan of princesses, but when a friend asked me to make Merida, a Scottish princess from Disney movie “Brave”, I was thrilled. This red-haired heroine was so much fun to make. She is around 12cm tall, and she is based on Merida Amigurumi princess doll by Sahrit, with some slight changes and addition of legs underneath the dress. I used 100% acrilyc yarn and 3mm hook.

Her blue eyes were a must, and not being able to find proper safety eyes, I had to use the combination of felt and beads. I must say I am satisfied with the result.

Her red hair is her strongest feature and illustrates her fiery spirit, so it had to be huge and wild. But she’s also adorable with the ponytail.

At the end here are some wise words from brave Merida:
“There are those who say fate is something beyond our command. That destiny is not our own, but I know better. Our fate lives within us, you only have to be brave enough to see it.”
